Know our team

.Nutrition International’s Program Operations Unit is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of Nutrition International’s core program interventions including program development, design, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting, and grant management, including setting annual operational planning, budgeting and review processes. The unit comprises a global team of professionals located in our 10 core countries across Asia, Africa and our headquarters in Ottawa, Canada. Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for Senior Program Officer, Adolescent and Women Nutrition and Health to be based in Dakar, Senegal.

About you

You will have a master’s degree in Reproductive Health, Public Health, Community Health, Nutrition or Nursing/Midwifery. At least 5 years’ experience in maternal health, midwifery, or public health. Experience of reproductive health programs, in supervising MNH programs, and in program/project implementation/supervision, monitoring and evaluation. Experience with micronutrient supplementation programs for pregnant mothers is desirable. Excellent interpersonal, IT, teamworking, and presentation skills. Fluent in written and spoken English and French and ideally Wolof.

About the role

In this role you will be:

  • Ensuring a regularly updated situation analysis is available on the status of AWHN including the status of work by organizations involved in AWHN service provision in Senegal.
  • Carrying out site monitoring visits to ensure that planned activities are implemented according to agreed strategy and contractual commitments.
  • Reviewing and analyzing financial and technical progress reports and produce relevant project documents as per NI procedures.
  • Providing the NI Country Director, Senegal with technical and management support relating to other NI programs as requested.
  • Building and maintaining good collaborative relations with MoH, other government agencies, UN agencies, and NGOs, as appropriate to promote information sharing and effective coordination of effort to improve and sustain effective and efficient AWHN.
  • Representing NI at national and regional for a relevant to AWHN.
  • Reviewing program for lessons learned and document and share appropriately.
  • Supporting formal evaluations of programs with a view of informing practice in Senegal and elsewhere.
