Job Description

Job Summary

The Payment Operations Associate plays a crucial role in handling customer payments, ensuring accurate cash reconciliation, managing trade confirmations, and performing basic accounting duties. Additionally, they actively support the Finance and Trading team by resolving any payment-related issues and taking on ad hoc projects.

Responsibilities

Payments

  • Verify and process payment requests in alignment with our policies
  • Handle all daily payment transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness while following Standard Operation Procedures
  • Take care of back office duties related to payments
  • Assist the Treasury Associates in monitoring and maintaining bank account balances
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries regarding payment issues
  • Collaborate with payment providers, customer service, and finance department to investigate customer payment problems like missing payments, invalid account details, or discrepancies
  • Verify customer payments and provide necessary proof
  • Queue payments in various portals such as the BP website, bank platforms, and payment processors
  • Work closely with the trader and customer service team to process customer transactions
  • Maintain a thorough statement of accounts for MTO clients
  • Offer support to the customer support team

Reconciliation:

  • Be the go-to person for reconciliation research
  • Collaborate closely with the accounting department to swiftly resolve any reconciliation issues
  • Team up with the data analyst and trader to ensure the utmost integrity of transaction data

Bank Account amp; Payment provider Administration:

  • Efficiently manage transaction documentation for our diverse network of bank partners
  • Facilitate the smooth opening of new bank accounts by handling all required documentation
  • Collaborate with banking and payment partners to enhance the efficiency of our treasury system

Requirements

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate should possess a University degree.
  • With a minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, finance or Treasury Back Office, the candidate should be familiar with the demands of this environment.
  • An exceptional ability to handle reports and analyze relevant data and information is required for this role.
  • Excellent communication skills are a must, as the candidate will be responsible for conveying important data from the front end to the back end.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude are highly valued.
  • The candidate should be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and perform tasks efficiently.
  • Attention to detail, flexibility, and proficiency in numerical calculations are essential.
  • The candidate should have a high level of proficiency in both English and French.
